My fellow Statler Brother and real brother, Harold, agreed to help me write this book after much arm-twisting and empty promises of giving him all the royalties. (He knew I was lying.) We had been bombarded for years with requests to put down our memoirs and even our kids insisted we should. We weren’t real sure everyone would find our memories as amusing as they did, but we decided to humor them and do it anyway. It was the most fun we’ve ever had.

How to write it was the first obstacle, but we just divided up the stories and told them in our own way and it came out as the one voice we were shooting for. We were given the freedom to tell the stories we chose and salute the heroes we loved and even tell the tales behind many of the songs we had written. And to top it all off we were able to include 48 pages of pictures, most never before seen by the public. (Some of them I don’t even remember seeing before.)

The scope of the book, 236 pages, covers the very early days of the group starting in high school and goes to the final concert on October 26, 2002, covering all our awards and hits and ups and downs and folks we knew along the way. Harold, Phil, Lew, Jimmy and Don had a ball making these memories and we hope you have a pretty good time re-living them with us.
